Episode 6
Most clinics and practices must include a shielding plan, i.e. radiation survey of their x-ray room prior to the installation of the modality. This helps to determine if the room is insulated and safe to all parties involved including, the x-ray operator, the patient, and individuals that are within proximity to the room.
Shielding plans are submitted and reviewed by a medical physicist to determine if the room requires lead layers behind the drywall. Some modalities do not require this, but more permanent installations do.
The Radiology Coach introduces this concept and answers common questions about the topic.
